When I was a teenager I qualified to compete in horse jumping at Spruce Meadows. My dad, who was very (terminally) ill with a brain tumor came to watch me compete. He laid on a blanket on the grass with his water bottle beside him (to weak to sit for very long), his forehead full of staples from yet another surgery, watching me. He had never been more proud of me. He even wrote in his journal after about how proud he was watching me there.
No where in his journal entry does he mention how terrible me & my horse did. We seriously made it over about 3 of the jumps. Then all my horse would do was refuse the jump. I went into the ring for 3 different competitions and in the final two competitions, she & I didn’t make it over one jump. I was disqualified on my 3rd jump refusal.
My dad never beamed more….he had a daughter “jumping” at Spruce Meadows.
When Kristin & Aaron inquired about my availability for their lovely pink wedding at Spruce Meadows, I was thrilled at the chance to go back. THRILLED!
I arrived at Spruce Meadows a couple of hours before Kristin & her bridesmaids arrived to get ready….. to scope out awesome photo locations/ideas…..but also to sit. In the same spot that I remember my dad & mom sitting at while watching me. It was a bitter sweet moment as I sat there remembering. But mostly sweet. I was so blessed to have such an amazing father.
I was also SO blessed to meet Kristin & Aaron. They have hearts of Gold & are so supportive of one another. Seeing them together was a full circle moment for me, as I was able to see people who love each other & who support one another. The words “in sickness & health” took on new meaning to me as my mind wandered back. Aaron, you are so lucky to have such a sweet tender heart in Kristin. Kristin, you are so very blessed to have such a hunky guy who adores you to no end.
This has been a length blog post, but I wanted to share what was on my heart & mind with this lovely wedding & I hope that you can see that emotion in the photos from the day.
I think that it is no secret that I am obsessed with all things pink. This bouquet made my heart jump with absolute joy.
This gown made me want to go out & buy myself another wedding gown.
I love when men bring their personality to the table. These socks (that matched the tie) are so very awesome!!
I love this moment! Kristin you are stunning!
I get the most amazingly lovely brides. Inside & out. Just absolute sweethearts!
Being a horse lover, it was super fun to have a beautiful warm-blood horse to pose with.
This pink & blue reception took my breath away when I walked into the room. It was absolutely jaw-dropping!!
