We often are asked to do stylized shoots with wedding planners, based on vision boards that they have created, that they want photographed. These type of shoots are great for giving brides wedding inspiration, showcasing vendors most creative work, building vendor’s (planner, florist, stationary designer, decor, cake designer, jewelery designer) portfolio’s, etc. It gives wedding planners the opportunity to show what they can do, when given free creative control & to have that work professionally photographed. It also gives the other vendors the opportunity to have their beautiful work professionally photographed. It also allows vendors the opportunity to be mentioned on our blog (which has thousands of readers weekly), and thus further market themselves to what is most likely their target market. We love getting to know other vendors, seeing their work and collaborating with other professionals! It is fun x 10000!
We have a fantastic product being created by our designer called our Little Pink Book. It is a book that we publish for fabulous chic brides with information on the A-list, first class vendors that we recommend. This is an exclusive list of vendors (2-3 vendors in each category) who have blown us away by their ability to do their jobs professionally, make our lives easier, make our brides happy and provide a service that is luxury and fabulous.
How do we choose what vendors we have on our list? very selectively. Firstly, we HAVE to have worked with the vendor in a professional setting. Secondly, we HAVE to have been blown away by them, their skills & their professionalism. We are very picky about whom we choose, and we will flat up say that not every vendor we work with on a stylized shoot makes it into the book. Some vendors are fabulous and blow our minds….. others underwhelm us with their lack of passion or organization. However, stylized shoots is an excellent way for us to see vendor’s work & for us to work together in a professional setting when we may otherwise not have had the opportunity to work along side each other.
Because of all the requests that we receive, and because of our incredibly busy luxury wedding studio, we are unfortunately unable to take all of the inquiries for these types of shoots that come our way. If you have a fantastic idea however, don’t hesitate to run it past us, and we will let you know if it is something we are interested in or if it suits our branding.
We thought we would do a quick blog post on what we require from our wedding planners for these type of shoots (it is easier to email a link to those interested!).
We require that the wedding planner does ALL of the work organizing (and any applicable costs), as that is what they are—planners. We are not planners, we are photographers. We give direction to the time of day for best possible light, plan posing ideas, shoot the couple & all the details, process all of the images, get the applicable images to each of the vendors involved (and the couple) and (ideally) have the shoot published.
So as a breakdown, we require any planners who wish to do a shoot with us to provide/organize:
- A couple in love
- Clothing, accessories for the couple in love
- Hair & Makeup for the couple
- The table-scape (if applicable)
- The stationary/paper goods (if applicable)
- The location
- The florals
- Any other details that completes the scene of the shoot and the vision of the shoot.
In the beginning of a possible collaboration, it is very helpful to us if you approach us already knowing the theme/style of the shoot & the color scheme that you are planning. This enables us to decide if the shoot vision & colors fall within our branding and if it would be beneficial for our portfolio & marketing.
