Light & Dark. Loud & Quiet. Right & Wrong. Warm & Cold. Matt & Kari.
What do all these things have in common? They are opposites.
“Opposites attract” has been a theme/phrase in the Burgess household.
Please, let me provide you with examples:
When we are driving- I am always freezing. Why? Because Mr. Burgess insists on not turning on the heat- EVEN IN WINTER. Why again? Because he is ‘hot blooded’ (as he puts it).
So, I of course revolted. I would blast the heat on FULL and huddle up to the vents!
I didn’t want my legs to fall off and become nubins just because ‘somebody’ wouldn’t turn on the heat.
He couldn’t stand how hot the vehicle was so he then would roll down the window. Letting all the hot air blow out the window and even more of a cold draft fly in. It created
a whirlwind effect. not good.
Food. I like what I like.
Ever since I have known Matt he has tried to make me eat seafood-specifically Sushi. and I will refuse.everytime. I KNOW I won’t like it. I am a carbs kinda girl.
Seafood grosses me out. You just never know what is in that ocean. Swimming and lurking around. I have never tried seafood and I never will.
We will go out on a special date- into lovely Victoria, and on the way there he will subtly try to convince me that sushi is delish.
“you know, I was watching watching the Ellen show the other day, and she had mentioned how much she LOVES seafood and that there is
nothing that compares”.
Nice try Mr. Burgess. First of all its not fair that you pull on my heart strings by using ELLEN to pursuade me, but second of all, I know you don’t watch Ellen. ha!
Now, those are just two examples of how we are different. But there are more. many more. I am sure I could make a list the height of the Eiffel Tower. But that would
put you all to sleep. in minutes.
Opposites attract. For us anyways. It works for us. We have a groove. We learn from one another.
His strengths are my weaknesses and vice versa.
When we first got married I went to our vehicle and saw that he put a fuzzy folded blanket in the front passenger seat,
so that I can wrap it around me as we drive and will be toasty warm.
And we now we both go for sushi- but he orders me Cucumber Veggie Sushi or Chicken Sushi.
We need eachother.
