1) Do you & Kari shoot weddings together?
No, we don’t. Kari & I are business partners (and LOVE working on ERP together) however we each take separate bookings. Whoever you have been corresponding with, is who will be your photographer.
2) A lot of photographers shoot with a second shooter, do you?
As a photographer for the past 9 years, I have found what works best for me is to shoot weddings solo. Ideally, if there is a shot worth taking, I want to take it myself to ensure that it is perfect! I have used second shooters in the past, and even if that photographer was highly recommended, I have still been disappointed at the photo & wished I had done it myself. I hustle to ensure that I am capturing not only all of the expected moments, but endless moments that the bride & groom may have not even saw. All of my clients are pleasantly surprised at how many details, memories & moments that I was able to capture for them. Everything you see on our blog was shot solo. Most of my clients (if they desire groom getting ready photos, I would say that 80% don’t) get ready at the same hotel (on different floors) and I go between them (mostly with the bride).
*All that being said, If you still wished to add on a second shooter, this can be done for $899 for the full day (or $599 for 6 hours. In my opinion, you do not need 2 photographers to cover a reception).
3) What would an ideal timeline for a wedding look like?
Timing with photography is everything! Being natural light photographers (flash will be used in dark receptions & dimly lit churches), light is everything. If you wish to get the glowy, soft, romantic photos that we are known for, here are the best timelines.
Bride prep: Photographer arrive at 1:00
Formals/Creative photos: 4:00-6:15
Cocktail: 5:30-6:30 (while we are still shooting bride & groom photos)
Reception: Bride & groom announced in at 6:30. Dinner at 6:45/7:00ish
Bride Prep: Photographer arriving at 11:00
(it is recommended that formals are done before the ceremony, with a “first look” between the bride & groom, as it is too dark outside to shoot much past 3:45)
4) Will you hold my date?
Dates on ONLY held with a signed contract & 50% non refundable retainer. There are many cases where a couple inquires about the date, shops around & by the time they get back to us a week later, the date has been snatched up.
5) Do you offer consultations?
Yes. However, due to busy schedules & myself living out of town, I far prefer skype appointments as a way to sit down “face to face”. If that is not possible, I do keep a small office in Edmonton that we can set up a time to meet at. Please be aware however, that in this time, the date can be booked by someone else who had a skype consultation, or chooses no consultation at all . As previously mentioned, dates are not held without a contract & retainer, and MOST of our clients request no consultation at all, as they are typically referrals from past clients/friends of theirs &/or have spent a lot of time on the website/blog, love what they see…are confidant in their decision and email and book! For example, I have had an inquiry for a date before & by noon that same day the contract has been signed, scanned and emailed and the retainer paid by email money transfer. So, please, if you choose to wait or shop around, do not be upset if your date gets booked. :)
