The other day, Matt and I were sitting on our bed. Sorting. Sorting darks from whites.
We were quietly visiting with one another. Just enjoying be together.
I would look up, give him a flirty face.
He would look up and do the same. It made me chuckle.
Normally, I don’t like doing laundry. But doing it with him, it makes it fun.
I put the dirty load of whites in the laundry basket and we go together to put it in the washing machine.
I pour the load in… start the water… grab the scoup… put in the detergent… close the lid.
I look at him and nod my head, and say ‘we’re all done Mr. Burgess’.
He didn’t move. He froze.
What? Whats wrong?
That when he mentioned to me, that 3 cups of detergent was a little excessive.
I told him that I like to make sure the laundry gets clean. I want to know that bubbles are being made, that every thread is getting
a taste of the Apple Spring detergent.
He shakes his said. Noo kari (in a loving tone)… you only need this much..
And he begins to demonstrate the amount needed for a full load.
1/2 of the scoup. Which I imagine is 1/2 a cup. But just incase it isn’t… it was HALF of the SCOUP!
He claims that if you put that much soap in the washing machine, it will never be able to rinse all of it. THEREFORE, leaving
soap residue on the clothes.
Oh sweet mercy Matt. There is no power in 1/2 a scoup. The is no oomph! That won’t get ONE of my socks clean.
So, we did laundry again yesterday. He put in the detergent.
Just as he would: 1/2 a scoup. I cringe.
A few minutes later I sneak into the laundry room and add another 2 scoups. Ahhh my heart is at peace now.
What are your thoughts? How much soap do you put in?
And hey, thats what marriage is all about.
The little things.
The funny things.
Wouldn’t trade it for the world.
But in all seriousness… how much soap do you put in? Is Matt right.. or ME?
