    3 Things I Know For Sure….

    1) Her Veil Rocked!! But I might be biased since I am SMITTEN with long veils

    2) They could not be more perfect for each other. No really,
She’s a police officer. He is a fireman. Like I said, Perfect.

    3) They are so kind in picking up a hitch hiker on their wedding day… me! =)

p.s thanks for letting me squeeze my caboose in your limo. Be rest assured that the car is a-ok.
A little water in the gas tank will not… can not, bring me down!

Christine and Derek I struggle to find the right words to tell you. Your passion and sincerity for life and
for each other is contagious to anyone you are around. I was extraordinarily honored to be a part of your wedding day.

Thank you so much! I wish you nothing but joy, happiness, and love- the kind of love where you grow old together and Derek is brushing
your long grey hair, and you still hold each other as if there was no tomorrow. That is my wish to you.

    Mucho Love,
    Kari

Edmonton Wedding Photographer. Spruce Grove Photographer | Trackhoe

    October 25, 2009

…today I felt like a duck out of water. A diva out of Divaville. I went to an Industrial Auction sale

(yes you read right). This is the type of place where they sell cranes & backhoes & bobcats& cats & semi’s…..etc….

I was there to buy a backhoe. except that until part way through the day, I thought it was called a trackhoe

(ie: “which ring are the trackhoes selling in?”. My bidders manual informed me that the one my husband wanted

me to buy was a BACKHOE. We are building our dream house & apparently need this thing for the basement,

sewer (eww) lines, etc. I wore my pink felt coat & sassy pink striped rubber boats (hello, there WAS mud).

I wore the pink so that the auctioneer would notice me when I actually started to bid. You see, I was a she

in a sea of he. I did not see another female. for miles. Except my mom. But she doesnt count. I dragged her there.

For moral support (she laughed at me as I bid. pft). In case you are wondering…yes, I was the champion bidder.

No, I didnt go above the pre-approved limit that my husband gave me. & Yes, I rocked it. I was so nervous sitting there.

I saw that my BACKHOE (when I first typed that I typed bobcat. there is no hope for me) was up next. I was so nervous.

I asked my mom to just bid for me. She said heck no. I said “Rockwell is sleeping on me, I cant bid”. She said

“your one hand is free, thats all you need”. Then she said “Radelle, you are a professional business woman. Sure

this is not your domain, but you can do this. Just look like you belong. Like you do this everyday”. So I did internet.

When it came my turn to bid, I put on my best professional-i-can-buy-a-trackhoe/bobcat/backhoe face & I bought

that sucker. I bought it internet. My first piece of heavy machinery. It made me think about how many times I have

had to feel like a fish out of water, totally out of my element, not adaquate & scared….and had to buck up & get ‘er done

(yes, I talk like that now. Im down with the rustic machinery lingo). I had literally stood before with knees knocking

& after achieving the goal, felt like I could do anything.

So, whats holding you back? What are you going to do today that scares you?

    Today I am going to

    a) Bake Something MYSELF

    b) SEW Something MYSELF

    c) HIKE up a mountain

    d) NOT go on facebook

    e) HAVE a relaxing bath. (listen, I cannot slay all my dragons in one day)

p.s Adam & I will be in Hawaii shooting a wedding this next week. Email will be returned but just a wee bit slower. Kari will be up to full

steam though (dont feel bad for her, shes going to mexico for

weddings a few times this winter). :)

    October 20, 2009

    -By Radelle

When I was a teenager, I was allowed to go to co-ed church dances.

But there was one rule. No Full Circles With Your Hips. none. It was “skanky” as my mother said.

My brother, being just 18 months older then me, and in the same group of friends…kept a watchful

eye to see if my hips were being obedient or not. One time he busted me. “Thats a full circle!!”

he screeched in front of all my friends and potential beaus. If I could have sunk into the gym floor and

slithered away to the door & back home, I SO would have. I got busted doing the FULL CIRCLE.

No one else even knew it was forbidden <by my mother>, not God. I picked up my chin, got a

sassy glint in my eye, tossed my fried bleach blonde hair over my shoulder and said “It was NOT a full circle.

It was 2 Half circles, with a brief pause in the middle”. He had no words. HA!

Everytime a Bride’s album arrives at our office. I do the dance. the full circle. with spirit fingers.

in your face Shane. Why dont you tell momma now?? (hee hee…) We LOVE our albums.

We are proud of them. This summer we started carrying a new Collection of Exclusive Albums.

They will last forever, they are that well made. The company that makes them is an exclusive

Album Boutique that takes a very limited amount of clients. We submitted our work,

and now (after many prayers) we are one of their few elite clients. We love them & always will.

We are the only company in Western Canada carrying this specific brand of albums. Even

when we do consulting and share all of our trade secrets, this is the one thing that no one will

get out of us. No matter how many Lindors you bribe us with.

They are that elite. They are luxury. They are for the best. Our Fabulous Couples.

    3 Things I Know For Sure…

    1. I know that seeing the groom tear up as his wife-to-be walked
down the aisle made my eyes water
    …alot.

    2. I know that Milene (bride) and Myself share the same
fear of walking alone at night…

3.I know that they rocked the dance floor
    with their ‘first dance’.

I LOVED shooting Milene and Travis’ Wedding, you know why?

Because you could see their unwavering love and devotion to one another…
You could literally see it oozing (such a gross word, but it encompasses everything I am trying to say)
    out from their hearts.

    Seeing them made me think.

Do I ‘ooze’ my love for my husband as much as I should?

    Don’t get me wrong..

I LOVE my husband with ALL my heart,
I adore everything about him, I cherish all the kind things he does for me,
I love that he gives me a kiss even with my
morning breath while I am still half asleep.

But do I show it as much as I could? When other people
look at us do they see the love that we feel for each other.
This was a wake-up call for me. It is so easy to get stuck in the same
routine day in and day out. Doing the things you do.

After seeing Milene and Travis, it opened my eyes. It opened my eyes to
the way that LOVE should be expressed…something I
    never want to forget.

A constant reminder to me to express my feelings
to my amazing husband. And to never
pass on a opportunity to do so.

“Never let a problem to be solved, become more important
than a person to be loved.” -Thomas S. Monson

Edmonton Wedding Photography | Have I done any good?

    October 19, 2009

Edmonton Wedding Photography, Drayton Valley Photographer

I sat in church yesterday in my snakeskin (yes you read right) pointy toed cowboy boots (with a brown plaid skirty & flirty scarf if you mind) and listened as our bishop told how the youth had collected an enormous (it was insane!!) amount of food for the local Food Bank. I was humbled that a bunch of teenagers cared enough to step outside of themselvs and care about others.

It got me thinking… I feel like overall im a good person, I dontate to the needy and I genuinely care about people being cold or hungry or homeless…. but am I doing all that I can?

We went on to sing a hymn that went a lil’ somethin’ like this  “Have I done any good in the world today? Have I helped anyone in need? Have I cheered up the sad by making someone feel glad? If not I have failed indeed. Drayton Valley Photographer Has anyone’s burden been lighter today, because I was willing to share? Have the sick & the needy been helped on their way, when they needed my help was I there? …etc…  I felt humbled. Here I am living my dream, I have an amazing husband who makes me a better person, a better photographer, a better mom, I have a son who is the light of my life & makes me belly laugh daily. My “work” is my passion. I adore photography, I adore love & I get so excited for weddings. How many people can say there are giddy before they go to work, & stay up way to late after their “work” (wedding) looking over the work they did that day. I am building the house of my dreams, and if it must be said, my siblings & mom & inlaws rock. I have so much love in my life that it is overwhelming… in a good way. Oh, and the icing on the cake is that I have the cutest kitten Tommie. Im not a cat person, at all. But this little gaffer has won me over…

Anyways, do I do as much as I could? Im sad to say that I dont. I resolve to do more. To care more. To Love more.

As such, ERP is putting together a huge, HUUUGGEE care package for the Edmontons Womens Shelter.

Domestic violence is a cause that is near and dear to my heart, and I am honored to be able to help out in any small way.

    We invite you to participate.

We are more then happy to swing by your place and pick up your donation if you wish.

When I think about women & children in the shelter, scared for their lives, I am so proud of them.

They risked incredible danger, and have taken a stand for themselves and their children. They are seeking out a better life.

They are stopping the cycle of abuse. They are my personal heros. Some excellent items are tolietries, women”y” things

(you know what I mean…), Diapers & wipes for babies, clothing, small toys or coloring books for kids, etc.

Im a big believer that every woman should feel beautiful, so I always throw in some “pampering” item as well like a nice lotion,

nail polish or my fave lipstick.

Here is to making the world a better place.

    Much Love,

    Radelle

    October 15, 2009

Winter has come and with no mercy.

We have not even had a Fall… the leaves that were blown off in the snowy wind were all green. Quite disappointing.

So I have been trying this new thing.. Atkins…
I know its not healthy for you.. not one little bit. But you do get results rather quickly which is what I am only caring about at this point.

I have never had any ’stick-with-it-ness’.
but that’s just me and I embrace who I am.
The thing that surprised me the most was that
Matt knew of lack of ’stick-with-it-ness’.
When I told him that I was going to do it (all motivated and in an excited way)

    he asked me

”What do you want me to do when you come to me saying, Matt I really want chocolate… do you think a little nibble would matter?
Or Matttttt…… your cereal or ice cream or spaghetti looks awfully good… its just that you don’t really stay devoted to things and it puts me in a sticky spot
because if I say- Kari, no you shouldn’t have that you are on Atkins, you’ll most likely get annoyed and call me ’stickler’ .
Or if I say -Yes sure, have it, its up to you sweetie- then you get annoyed because you think i didn’t think from the beginning that you could last.
    ”

    I said
    ‘huh?! I don’t do that.’

    But i do.
    I know I do.
I give in to my moments of weakness..
    and frankly.. I don’t really care…
Or at least I didn’t until I realized that people noticed my lack of devotion.
I guess I forgot that people had eyes and have connected the dots of things I didn’t complete
from Piano to Running in the mornings to, to scripture study to…Atkins. The list goes longer i can assure you.

This statement from Matt got me thinking… do i lack devotion???
and after 10 minutes of pondering…
I made a list to show him that I do have devotion in some things.

    -Devoted to our marriage
    - Devoted to my family
    - Devoted to music
    - Devoted to my Faith
    - Devoted to the Internet
    - Devoted to Photography
    - I showed devotion to Massage Therapy Training
    - and I am sure I am devoted to a lot of other things that I just can’t think of at this moment

    and he said
    ‘yup. you are right’

and that is all i needed to hear. those sweet sounding words that i kept saying in my head over and over and over again.

So Last night- I had a bowl of cereal and Matt busted me with the dish…
and I said ‘ what?? I am devoted to this marriage- would you rather me switch my devotion to Atkins?? cause i can only be devoted to so many things at once.’

He just smiled and kissed me =)

I was telling Radelle on the phone all about my Atkins ordeal.. and I stated

‘…well I would rather fail at something I love then to succeed at something I hate’.

    We both just laughed..
I like the justification of it.

Edmonton Wedding Photography, Drayton Valley Photographer | Gratitude

    October 13, 2009

    Drayton Valley Photographer-By Radelle

Ok world wide web, Ive realised that I am a perfectionist. Not in spelling mind you. I am having my custom dream house plans drawn up (we are preparing to build) and I have sent the plans back to my architect a hundred times with arrows and notes and explanations and requests. he loves me. We are also totally revamping our logo & website, and I am sending sentences like this to the designer “I want the loopies more loose and less like ringlets. more fancy and less princess’y’. I want the font a little bit more glamorous and sophisticated, but less trendy and artsy. she also loves me. I fear that I may not make it on their “thankful” lists this thanksgiving. Maybe i’ll make them a pie……

We recently celebrated Thanksgiving. I have so much to be Thankful for it is scary. I am so blessed. So very blessed.

Here is a tiny tiny list of things that jumped into my head as I sat here today to craft this blog post:

     i.am.thankful.for.

-The love of a man I do not deserve. A man who makes the hero in chick flicks look like a cheap phony. A man who makes me feel like the smartest, prettiest, best woman around.

-The love of a son (pictured) who is beyond cute, beyond sweet, beyond kind, and beyond funny. who thinks that I am the best thing alive, and that they only thing better then me is choo choos (trains). I would have waited a hundred years for him if I had to, but im sure glad I didnt have to, because life with him is complete bliss. he is my heart.

-stretchy pants for thanksgiving dinner. the more hidious, the more awesome.

    - people who will let you go ahead of them in line, when you only have 1 or 2 things

    - that walmart carries goats milk (no, not ewww. mmmmmm)

    - The variety in Alberta’s landscape

    -GPS

    - Quaint mom & pop restaurants

-being a savy enough driver to swerve around random chunks of tire left on the hiway (after a semi blowout?)

    -hot tubs. even murky ones.

    - People who are real & genuine

    - Pencil skirts & sassy scarves

    - Ugly sweater parties

Drayton Valley Wedding Photography, Edmonton Wedding Photography, Spruce Grove Photographer | Traveling solo

    October 5, 2009

    -by Radelle

This was my first time on a real business trip alone. ALONE. Adam & I always travel for weddings & business together (and we LOVE it!!). No exceptions. But this time there was no adam, just lil ol me. Things were looking good. I woke up to my 5 alarms, found parking at the airport and looked stylish (pink fall coat, pink & white floral scarf & pink zebra print handbag with jeans and pointy toed shoes…if you MUST know) was at the security/immigrations desk (which may I just say is totally trippy.I mean 10 ft ago i was in Canada, and now

im supposedly in the states, being treated like a escapee from unsolved mysteries….

mean security lady: “Where are you going?”

    me: “um Seattle”

mean security lady: “that sounds like a question. dont you know where you are going?”

me. “yes” (much more business like) “Seattle for sure” (akward laugh)

mean security lady: What are you going there for?

    me: work

mean security lady: “what is work?” (eyes rolling)

    me: oh I shoot weddings.

mean security lady: (eyes alarmed. only hearing the word “shoot”) what?!

me: Oh, not *whispered* Shoot, I mean photograph. Yes. Im a very very professional photographer. Not a *whispered* *gasp* shooter at all. nope. not me. nothing to do with shooting *nervous akward laughter*…. (eyes avoiding akward

eyecontact…they go up to the right.,,or wait, is that the sign that someone IS lying….or is it up to the left….)

mean security lady: long akward pause as she studies if i can hold her gaze (which of course I cant, I mean im looking up to the right…….) …….akward time passing….me wondering if I should break out pictures of rockwell so that she sees that im not a criminal, cause criminals dont have kids, right? RIGHT?? ….. (breaks into a smile) you have a nice trip. GOOD LUCK.

me: (flood of relief. breath again)Thanks! this is my first time on a business trip alone.

mean security lady: I couldnt tell (thick sarcasm).
