    June 21, 2010

    -By Radelle

I threw Adam a 50’s themed Fathers Day Party.

    It was FUN.

I now have a new respect for Brides planning their wedding.

It is work to throw a fabulous party for the people you love.

    Seattle Radelle & Adam Style

    May 28, 2010

    -By Radelle

We’ve had quite a few emails lately asking us to share our “personal” pictures from our trip to

Seattle to photograph Julia & Jed’s LDS wedding

I am more then happy to share our trip with you!

This year I am making a real effort to get to know myself better. I feel like I have a fairly good

grasp on who I am, or rather who I was, but since having our son…I feel like in some ways,

I need to get to know myself again and find out what I like and what im all about. I relate everything

to the characters on friends. Adam compares my personality to a mix between Rachel & Phoebe.

Rachel because im quite easy going & Phoebe  because I can be really weird. Like I love to q-tip

my ears and look forward to it weird.

Anyways, on this trip he got to see that there may be a little bit of Monica hiding in there as well.

We unboarded the plane in lovely Seattle and Adam turns to me and says

“did you rent us a car or whats the plan?”

( I handle the trip details when we are traveling. clearly.) I was fumbling with my water bottle trying

to rehydrate (they say planes really dehydrate you and I hate being dehydrated)

and also my lip gloss (trying to show Seattle my best face).

Anyways, without thinking I said to him “Yes! The itinerary is obviously in my purse,

in the Manila colored folder, filed right behind the flight itineraries and before the hotel reservation page.

It has a tab on it that says car rental. No, that one is the Ferry schedule and Mike’s Kayak Rental Shop

information. Yes, yes, that’s the one. “

I straightened. Was I obsessive? Was I anal retentive? (should I have written that word on my blog?)

I turned to Adam and said “maybe there is some Monica in me”.

He said “maybe, but it keeps us very, very organized”.

I spent a good 10 minutes in introspection thinking “wow, that was weird, who am I???”

    I mean I am very easy going…

to this day I would jump in a dirty old dugout (pond) and go swimming without thinking twice.

    The bottom of my feet

are often black as I walk around our acreage barefoot.  I am quite a carefree person.

    But as Adam said

“you can be organized & carefree, in fact they can work like magic together”.

I hope so Internet, I hope so.

But in that moment I felt so strange. I felt like Monica.

It was all dispelled when we were in our Jeep driving to our hotel & Adam said

“what do you want to do first?”

I said “I want to see the white house!!!”

Clearly geography is not my strong point, but may I just say that in the State of Washington,

I would have expected the White House. It just makes sense to me.

    Perhaps I am Phoebe.

You see why Adam & I ALWAYS travel together to Destination weddings?

    Flat out—-we NEED each other.

Left on his own, he wouldn’t have a car rented in advance, and left on my own I would have

spent the whole trip driving around looking for the white house.

p.s. Ladies, there is nothing quite like unclipping all of  your Hair Extensions at Security in front of tons

of people and tossing them in the bin to embarrass your husband. Im just sayin’. :)

    Get to know {Adam}

    May 6, 2010

If you are a regular blog reader, you’ve likely gathered that there are 3 photographers

who make up Eternal Reflections Photography. Myself (Kari), Radelle & Adam.

I had the honor to interview Adam so that you could get to know him better.

Adam is everything he seems. He is an adorable doting husband who is smitten with his wife Radelle.

He loves her & treats her like Gold. Their marriage is magic & I think that Adam is such a great

example to all men of how to treat a woman.

Adam is a kind, soft spoken man…. and yet he is a manly man. Loving sports and all things with

    adrenaline.

Adam is a great friend, a loving husband and a dad who literally spends hours playing hide & go seek

    with his son.

He is just as fantastic a person as he seems.

What is an accomplishment that you are proud of?

In Grade 12  I won “fastest tongue in the West” for my trumpet playing. Funny I know.

What is something else that you are proud of?

I saved up my money & when I was 15 I bought a 68 Chevelle. I fixed it up with

my dad & spent the year (until I turned 16) revving it in the driveway.

I painted it Red with black racing stripes. I sold it when I wanted to propose to my

sweetheart Radelle &  suprised her with a honkin’ diamond.

How do you stay in shape?

Well I don’t think im in amazing shape or anything. But I do run, usually about 45 min/day.

I also Bike ride with Radelle because she loves it so much.

    What are you hobbies?

    Basketball. Fishing.

    What is your fave color?

    Camouflage

What is something you are dreading?

Radelle is making me throw out all of my old clothes from High School. It’s hard to say goodbye.

What is a secret about you?

From a course in University that I did, I can name & do the sounds of almost all of Alberta’s birds.

What is one strength of yours with wedding photography?

I think because im a guy, im able to make the weddings photos really fun for the groom & groomsmen.

Radelle says that you own too many plaid shirts. Is this true?

    Probably

    Your fave place to visit?

    Japan

What is your fave thing to do in the summer?

Take the boat out & do water sports

    Fave thing in the winter?

I enjoy ski-dooing. I would also say snowboarding, but im just learning & I took a pretty bad

fall on the bunny hill at panorama this spring. I woke up & my googles were 5′ away and I had no

    idea what happened.

    Reflect the Love {Unique Edmonton Wedding Photography}

    May 5, 2010

    -By Adam

It has been a little while since we did one of our {Reflect the Love} blog posts.

One of the ways that we try to reflect the love is by helping other photographers grow their businesses and perfect

their craft. We do not think that we are the best or experts in everything, but if there is any way that we can help; we enjoy

doing so and dedicate a little chunk of our day to replying to emails.

It is our ultimate goal to make the world a happier, more loving place where people are friends and marriages

are strong. If this is one little way that we can do that, by helping others, then awesome.

We do it in a formal way through our mentorship, but we also are more then happy to answer peoples emails & do

our best to get to everyone of them (even if it takes a little while).

That is one of the ways that we try to {Reflect the Love}. We hope our emails back to you (fellow photogs) help you &

we hope that you know that we are your biggest supporters!

We also want to share, how someone {reflected the love} back to us.

While purusing the web, we saw this comment that fellow (southern alberta) photographer Sheila Kurtz  had left about Radelle.

“…….. I talk to Radelle occasionally and she is a sweetheart and then some. Genuine.

I think every other photographer knows more than me, then after talking with some who share,

I find out we both learned from each other. I love that she loves people in love! Some people forget why they got married,

and she reminds us all. She is so real. Thanks.”

Sheila is a wonderful lady & a fantastic photographer (if you need photos & are in southern alberta, she is a great choice!)

and in this day & age, who takes the time to write something so nice? Not that many people. I know that Radelle

was bouncing around the office all day & thought that it was such a nice comment.

Its amazing how much kind words can brighten someone’s day.

On another {Reflect the Love} note I wanted to share something that I overheard Radelle saying.

As we were leaving the swimming pool the other night, Radelle stopped a man who was walking by and said

“was that your wife with the curly hair in there”? He said “yes”. Radelle said “I want you to tell her how bright &

cheery she seems. She caught my eye across the pool out of everyone there. She just seems like such a nice, happy

    person. She glows”.

He smiled a big smile and said “she is without a doubt, the better half. Thankyou for telling me that”.

So, on that note, we have a challenge from our office to you (we will also do it!). Find someone…a stranger,

a friend, your spouse, your child and pay them an unexpected compliment or kind word.

    Lets make someone’s day!

p.s. Tommorow the winner of our photography giveaway will be annouced.

So make sure you leave a comment letting us know how many of your friends became fans/likes!

{Dating your Love} Whitecourt wedding photographer

    March 29, 2010

There is a quote that I adore. That I try to structure my business & family life around.

“We give our lives to that which we give our time”

    -Elder William R. Bradford

I think that all of the photographers reading this blog know how easy it is to just work ‘a little longer editing photos’,

or to answer ‘just this one email’ after business hours.

    While it is great & important to be efficient business people, our clients deserve it;

our families should not be robbed of us.

I try to implement “email free weekends” as a way to take time away from my office &

remember the most important people in my life.

As a result, I feel that I work better & am more creative. Everything still gets done on time.

It is just a matter of making choice & making sure that the things that matter most don’t get

    put on the back burner.

One day when I was pursuing the dating diva’s blog; it occurred to me that it had been a while since I did something random & nice for the love of my life.

Has this happened to you as well?

I knew in an instant that I needed to suprise Adam. He is constantly doing thoughtful things for me, and it was high time that something be all about him.

So, here is what I did.

After shooting some Engagement Photography in Edmonton I handed him the picture above.  A little scroll thingy

    of wrinkled paper.

Inside was a cheesy poem & a map. The map was a 2hr radius around Edmonton.

I said, “pick a place you’ve never been”.

    He picked Whitecourt.

Neither of us knew anything about whitecourt. (we are experts now).

Whitecourt is near(ish) to  Edson, Hinton, West of Edmonton.

    So off we went.

I secretly wanted to go to San Fran and visit my darling photographer friend Gladys as it was her birthday ;)

The point of this excursion was you sleep in little local motels & eat at little local ‘mom&pop’ shops

& shop at vintage shops & go on hikes, etc.

This was the Hotel that I wanted. Adam convinced me to stay at one slightly more modern

as I guess this one wasn’t even in business anymore….

We had picnics (that I packed in advance), we went on hikes, we drove around.

We laughed. We ordered late night pizza. We had sparkling juice by the River

We went swimming at whitecourts fantastic aquatic center (seriously so great!!), we scoped out locations for

wedding photos in case we get a whitecourt wedding booking.

We drove out to the country side & saw random things such as this…

    and they made us laugh.

    We held hands everywhere

    It as divine.

    Edmonton Wedding Photographers {Fairmont}

    March 20, 2010

A couple of weeks ago, we took a vacation with Radelle & Kari’s family for a snowboard vacation to Fairmont.

Here is a short video showing the fun we had. Check it out here!

p.s. Dont mind Radelle wearing her Pink Bow headband across her forehead. Playing pool makes her strange.
    Cheers,

    Edmonton Wedding Photographers {because I am loved}

    March 17, 2010

    By Radelle

There we were. A simple dinner out.

I was wearing a dress shirt, blue jeans & boots. He was wearing one of his many plaid

dress shirts, faded blue jeans & those cool shoes that I love so much.

I convinced him that the ceasar salad would be to die for, it wasn’t.

He convinced me that I was the only person in Canada who hadn’t watched

    the Olympics (he was right).

He was all, “The lady will have…” when ordering

    and I was all,

“Is that a mirror in your pants, because I can totally see myself in them”

And we were cheesey & I bet other people thought we were barfy

    but we were us.

    And I love us.

Someone once asked me, how are you so confident that you will get

us photos we love on our wedding day?

I said, because I am loved, I can see love.

    and I mean it.

    ————————————

p.s. lots of amazing shots coming up next week!! Stay tuned!!

    Edmonton Unique Wedding Photography { Adam }

    February 1, 2010

So im copying Kari & Radelle with their “about me” posts.

    1. When I was in high school, I won the award “fastest tongue in the west” for my TRUMPET playing abilities. (don’t laugh)

    2. I like to grow out my stubble & give Radelle whisker rubs. She’s hates it. (but I think secretly likes it)

    3. I lock my keys in the car at least 5 times a year. AMA loses money on me.

    4. I play on a recreational hockey team, but im terrible. My goal is to not suck by the end of this year. (Im  a basketball boy)

    5. I am always on the search for the perfect shirt & yet continue to buy the same shirt (plaid, button up) over & over.

    Edmonton Wedding Photographer| Eternally Yours

    December 10, 2009

    aaaawHow I love this man.

Today is our anniversary. I loved him the moment that I first saw him & again when we started dating 4 years later.

To say he completes me would be an understatement. I adore him. I cannot get enough of him. I believe in love, because of him. My path to true love was not an easy one, but so worth it to have Adam as my Husband & Best Friend.

When people meet him, they ask if he is “for real”?! Yes, yes he is.

He is so loving, gentle, funny & kind that its remarkable. He is my hero.

Just as greatful as I am to have him as my husband, I am even more greatful that he is the father to my son. What an incredible example of how to treat a woman. Whoever Rockwell one day marries will be so lucky to get him, because of the example of his father.

Before I get to mushy (to late?lol), this song is exactly how I feel about adam.

I love you with all my heart.

    You are my heart.

    alligator pie

Adam and I were driving home from a fantastic date at the batting cages & go carts (and yes, bumper boats. I made him get into the bumper boats while I rocked out any road/boat rage ive ever had) and we got talking.
me: “have I ever told you abour the poem I performed in grade one?”
    Adam: (fibbing) “no”
me: “it was called Alligator Pie, and I practiced for weeks. Shall I perform it now?”Adam: “sure honey”
me: “alligator pie, alligator pie, if i dont get some i think im gonna die. give away my hockey stick, give away the sky, but don’t give away my alligator pie. Alligator soup, alligator soup, if i dont get some i think im going to droop….(etc) ” (yes I performed the whole thing). (in a very monotone-im 6 years old and scared way)
Adam: “so cute honey! Did I ever tell you that by grade 4 I had all the verses of in Flanders Field Memorized”
    me: (fibbing) no.
    Adam: …(performs it perfectly)
me: “you know, I think we’ve had this exact conversation before”
    Adam: “me too”
me: Are we getting stale? no new stories? is that bad do ya think?
Adam: “No honey, that is the thing about Love. We’ve shared all of our stories from the past, and now all of the new exciting stories are together. We are making the new stories, now”
me: ” I could die you are so perfect, thats exactly right. Not only do we have the safety & security of knowing each others past & all the charming stories, but we are making a million new ones together. Hand in Hand.
Isnt Love Grand? (that is why he’s my best friend. He’s so smart.)
    (.. and makes great cookies.)

————— in about a weeks time, this blog will be so full with wedding photos it will make your eyes hurt (but in a seriously good way). At the moment we are just finishing up a gazillion orders and what not, and enjoying every moment.————————- sneak peek of what is to come…..
